Spain / Edinburgh 2013

Entry 1

In which we depart Calgary, fly to somewhere near Halifax, then Rekjavik, then London, then Madrid, all of which does spread out the jet lag very well. We spend two days in Madrid and catch up with Maria and carmen and utterly fail to find Jim and Mary-Terry. Which is well explained by my not telling them exactly when we were to arrive, not understanding that nobody spends one more minute in Madrid than they have to in early August and both were out of town.

Then we take off to see Avila, the last fully walled city, probably anywhere, and head further north to Burgos, some smaller cities, and Pamplona. And finally, as I type, to a Basque mountain town startlingly similar to Banff.

In the next days, we saw various cities in northern Spain:

Entry Two: The greatest, funnest castle ever!

And here's the link to Entry three, where we go from mountains to see in an hour, and have a day at the beach!

Entry Three: Basque country and San Sebastien

Entry Four: Edinburgh. Holyrood Park, and Arthur's Seat

Entry five is just about the Edinburgh Book Festival and the private festival I've been having the last three weeks - reading three Iain Banks books, one somewhat about himself and how he likes to have fun - friends, family, driving fast on Scottish Roads to out-of-the-way places, and a lot of great eating and wine and whiskey drinking - Raw Spirit. The Hydrogen Sonota, the last SF, awaits me at home; and I'm bringing back his first and last books from the Festival bookstore. Entry Four: The Edinburgh Book Festival
