Bulldog

A photo of a Bulldog

Developed as fighting dogs and for bull baiting, in Great Britain, this breed was popularized in North America as the mascot of the U.S. Marines. They were used as a guard dog in more recent times.

Very muscular and strong, they are distinguished by their stockiness and short muzzles. Most snore. Requires daily exercise.

Very friendly and gentle with family members.

Pups must be socialized, but can be good with other pets when raised together. This independent breed can be stubborn, so obedience training should start at an early age.
