-
Travel Newfoundland and Labrador: Students, singly & in groups,
will research and develop information about their communities. Groups of
students at different schools will develop and publish, with pictures where
possible, on-line reports about some aspect of their own community in order
to create an interesting internet travel brochure about rural and urban
communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. Students will exchange information
about their lifestyle and environment with participating schools.
-
Knowing your Province Better: One can expand on and enhance the
social studies resource through the Internet by exchanging letters about
our community and school with other schools and communities throughout the
province, Canada and the world.
- The West Coast of Newfoundland is a beautiful place. There is a special

Grade 7: People and Their Culture:
As if heading for the shoreline of the coastal village,
Bill Reid's sculpture The Spirit of Haida Gwaii represents a Haida
canoe crammed with a bewildering variety of paddlers and passengers.
People and Their Culture: "The focus is culture in general, and the
student's culture in particular. Cultural interaction and adaption in
Canada necessitates an understanding of multiculturalism. The study of
another culture (the Japanese) provides the opportunity to apply
cultural concepts. " (Alberta Ed.)
