I'm the ongoing biochemical process known as Soleil Lapierre. Hello and welcome to my home page. This is mainly a vanity site, but includes some of my better creative efforts. The links above lead to the major sections of my site.
A short note about navigating my site: I've been dissatisfied with providing "Back" and "Index" links on my web pages, and with relying on users to use their browsers' back button, so instead I make your current location always visible at the bottom of the page.
At the bottom of each page is the path to that page within my web site(s). Each part of the path can be jumped to in order to move toward the root of the site directory tree. Sometimes links will take you across directories (or sites) and the previous page will not be listed at the bottom. In those cases you will have to use your browser's "back" button if you want to return to the last page you visited.
For an overview of the whole thing, see my site map. To find out about recent changes, go the the change log.
Please read the disclaimer before complaining about anything on my web site. You don't have the right to complain unless you read and understand the disclaimer.
This web site is designed for use with
any HTML-compliant web browsing software,
as all web sites should be. Because of that, some pages may
not look quite right when rendered by programs that misrepresent themselves
as web browsers.
This site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for advanced formatting. If you can see this paragraph, your browser does not understand CSS. All this means is that you don't get the maximum graphical presentation. All the meat will still be here for you.
However, for those who insist on using graphical browsers, I do make
the effort to create a nice look. I make my graphics with
The Gimp, simply
the best image editor and paint program there is.
I am now using the PNG (Portable Network Graphic) format for many of the
images on my web site. This graphic file format has loads of advantages
over both GIF and JPEG; see the
PNG web site for more
details. If you are using a graphical browser and it does not display
all of the images on my web page correctly, you need to get a better
browser or pressure the authors of your browser to support PNG
properly.
I hate telling people to get better software, but I also hate
being tied to proprietary or non-free standards.
The world could stand to be rid of
bad browsers.
All of my HTML pages contain the MSSmartTagsPreventParsing meta tag, in order to prevent Microsoft and its clients from hijacking my hard work. In case you didn't know, the Smart Tags misfeature that Microsoft introduced with Windows XP is evil, because it takes away from web authors control over what can be reached from their sites and puts that control in the hands of Microsoft's corporate friends.
