The Titanic & "Risk Management"
This area will be "under construction" through mid-November 1998.
Please bookmark this page and tune back in if the material
you would like is still incomplete or unavailable.
- The original 1995 essay
The Titanic: An Enduring Example of Money Management vs. Risk Management
- Elias Kline Memorial Lecture for the 69th Shock & Vibration Symposium.
(Much-expanded version of the original essay)
"The RMS Titanic and its Times: When Accountants Ruled the Waves",
Speaking notes from the lecture,
with essential graphics and tables added,
plus links to web sites referenced in the material,
and a Bibliography.
WARNING! The document will load in-line graphics
totalling half a megabyte (4-5 min. at 28.8). If you turn off
graphics, you will at least get descriptions of them...
I couldn't put in all of the graphics by any means, so the slide's
name just appears in boldface - generally the text explains what
it shows.
- Downloadable file suitable for printing, with all graphics
- this will be last priority, I'm afraid.
Christmas '98 would be a good bet.
