Crushing Defeat

by Bob Dewar, Alan Dewar, Jeff Dewar, David Dewar and Mary Lou Dewar

"Eh gad," said Robbie Rabbit. "How did this happen?"
"Stop that cursing," shouted his spouse, Rita.
"That's not real cursing," replied Robbie, at which point the strangest sound came from that big hole in the ground. "Oh dear," they cried in unison.

"Excuse me, but may I borrow a cup of sugar?" asked Gary Gopher, poking his head up out of the hole. This was the tenth time this had happened today, and Robbie and Rita were getting mighty tired of it. They were also none too pleased with the many holes in their hard wood floor.

"For the last time," started Robbie, but before he could finish, Molly Possum (who was actually a mammoth) accidentally stepped on his house, crushing his roof and forcing Gary to flee back underground. Robbie's face went all flush (though it was hard to tell since he was white anyway) and he bellowed, "Molly! Get off of my house!!"

"Oh dear," Molly said, fretfully. "I'm sorry. I thought that was Harley Hippie's apartment."
"Harley Hippie!?" came the shocked reply. "Why would you want to antagonize that nefarious newt?"
"Precisely because he is so vicious. You see, I have a plan!"
"Permission to flinch in terror, sir?"

"Don't worry! All you have to do is sneak up behind Harley and spray lavender water over him. His whole outer skin will melt, and he'll be destroyed. Good, eh?"
"But what will we do with his remains? There'll be a lot of them."
"We'll make a stew and invite everyone in for dinner."
