George's Poem

by David Dewar, Jenni Dewar, Pascal, Alice Wachter, Bob Dewar, Mary Lou Dewar, Alan Dewar and Jeff Dewar

There once was a dude name George,
Who tried hard to cross a gorge;
He fell to hell, but...

Lived to tell.
After his trip,
He returned with a quip...

And a big bruise on his head.
Why did he fall in the first place?

He was dressed all in lace
From his feet to his face...

But he failed to keep pace
With all in the place
So George did not win the race.

However, he did come in last
Which proved to be quite a blast --
He received booby prize --
A pair of new eyes
Encased in a bright purple cast!

"A gorge is a gorge," said his mother to George,
"But the race is now finished, so eat up your porridge."

But then the author ran out of rhymes.
He picked up his nickels, quarters, and dimes.
He then headed out the door.
You know there isn't any more.
As he went around the bend,
He discovered this was THE END.
